Dear Monkey,

Tonight I can't help but wonder just where the past five years have gone. Certainly it was just yesterday I held you in my arms, you staring back at me with those knowing blue-grey eyes looking at me with love. You showed me how someone can truly love someone and just know it. I loved you before I knew you and saw you and cared for you.

When we were finally home as a family, you learned to roll and sit up and crawl. To cruise and run while holding that toy for forever and then one day there you where letting go and walking! And yes the next day running. Okay sure it wasn't all roses and chocolate but it was our ride and we walked it together.

There was PreK for 3 year and PreK for 4 year. We were reaching for the remote for the pause button then.

And now here we are the eve before you start Kindergarten. Another one of those times I let you go to take the steps on your own while inside I am internally wishing for some sort of pause.

I want to yell SOMEONE SLOW DOWN THE TIME as the tears stream down my face but I fear I'll be unheard due to all the excitement. And that is really how it should be.

Monkey Boy, I love you more than all the Cars in your room. Bigger than outter space. All the way up to the moon and back. I pray you will have the Best Day Ever and learn the rules. That the day won't be too bor-rin and you will meet all new friends to play with. I pray your new OT is just as awesome as your last. And that you try your hardest - knowing it is okay if you mess up sometimes when you try. I pray you truly won't miss me even as I will spend my entire day wondering how our day went and just what you were doing at various moments throughout my day oh who am I kidding Missing The Stew out of you while trying NOT to cry all day.
I'm going to miss you despite the fact that you're such a big boy. But you will always be My Only Boy. So pretty much even though my heart feels cracked at the seems and all? I am so happy and excited for you and hope you have the bestest day ever at Kindergarten.

Please, Lord, Be with him all day. Watch over him Because I love him with every square inch of my heart.

Dear Monkey Boy - you will have So Much Kindergarten fun and I cannot wait to hear you tell me all about it after school. I love you so very very much. Hope you have the Best First Day Ever.

Love you the most and the biggest.

Mommy.

Kindergarten Verification

It's official - we've been verified! The Boy & I signed away our lives, or rather that we won't allow The Boy to use his cell in class and we won't write checks to the cafeteria oh and we won't be tardy or late less we have to pay a fine! All documented by the parent (here!) and the child (there!) And then we heard the sentence we have been waiting for . . . You will be in Mrs Black's class! and Oh were we not excited since we had been praying we might end up with Mrs. Black! Off to her room we went so The Boy could see both his teacher & his room. The room that The Boy has deemed "Great"

He's quite excited that Kindergarten will start on Thursday and hopes to meet all his new friends. For now he's happy to know where his room is and who his teacher will be. We are looking forward to a wonderful year with Mrs. Black this year and hope she and The Boy get along fabulously!

We're all praying and fingers crossing and hope-hope-hoping for a great first day for The Boy come Thursday. He's very excited and raring to go. Tomorrow is one last Hurrah at BigMama's while mommy works doing evals. For now he's nestled snug in his bed and I am not far behind him. Good practice for the real deal on Thursday, right? Right.

Happy Verification Day!

Adding an Additional Color to the Back-to-School Wardrobe

Purple and blue go well with red, right?

Because it would appear that in addition to our red shirt with new red shoes? We will be sporting red, purple and blue on our chin

Because put quite simply:

The Boy tripped over a basket I left out last night and went plowing in to a table with, apparently, his face, chin and chest. Fabulous wasn't it? To get the game face on for the start of Kdg on Thursday, yes? Nothing says Hi I'm Your New Student on Tuesday quite like the huge busted chin on The Boy, right? But for now we are wearing a Nemo bandaid to keep the strawberry stuff (read: blood) from going all over his WallE pillow tonight.

Never a dull moment in a house with boys. Hope your Sunday had a calmer feel to it!

What's That?

Did I hear you mention something about Back-to-School shopping?Might be dreaming, but did you mention something about Kindergarten starting in just a few short days? Why yes we ARE So Ready as We Have New Shoes. Shoes containing that favorite color of REDAren't they perfect? We think so. The Boy picked them out himself and has informed me he will wear them Thursday to his Kindergarten school with a red shirt and some red shorts and red socks, too! Ahem. We won't be going that far but there is sure to be RED there as we start our First Day of Kindergarten! For tonight? The Boy is "practicing spending the night with Big Mama & Papa on a Saturday" - and I'm fairly certain he is having a blast. I'm calling it a night myself. Hope you all have had a very happy Saturday!

Father/Son Camping Trip!

David & The Boy headed on an overnight camping trip with "Unca Jimmy" and The Cousin* Thursday night - one last Hurrah before school starts back up next week. I hear there was a ton of fun, and David was kind enough to document a bit of it for us. Since us gals were stuck back home, I had to rely on The Boy to tell me Just Exactly What Went On. Now, if you know The Boy or have met The Boy, you know he is Quite The Talker. I opted to take quotes but not subject you to the on-going dissertations he gave for each photo. You're Welcome.

They were living on the edge, both riding in the road and without a helmet. The Boy assures me they were not speeding and going very slow. This photo is kindly known as riding our scooters all the way back to my camper

They visited a playground and much fun was had. I am told that they were pretending this was a higher ladder and just in case you were wondering when you get up to the top you should neber let go because that is dangerous

The Boy told me this picture was me and my cousin having fun at the playground
Dis is fishing but I didn't have fun. I just waitin and waitin but I never catch a fish, Fishin is bor-rin.

Unnca Jimmy was givin some lessons to my cousin to catch a fish with his fishin pole really great
We went to a fun aquarium I thought it was bor-rin but it wasn't bor-rin it was fun but you shouldn't swim in dat water over there because there is a fish with a sharky-nose that is longer and it will hurt people and everyone else really bad
And look there's the little alligator HE'S SO CUTE
That's us at the mountain and do you know what happened? We had to get in the truck real fast because it started rain so bad! We run so fast together
Zoomin down de hill!
We played my games together
This is me and my cousin was sleepin in the couch and he wanted a drink of water and to play my leapster but it was time for bed so I said I would stay with him for a minute and he could play my leapster in the morning and we watched TV
The Boy had a blast, especially the playground and aquarium portions. He is quite partial to the He Is So Cute Alligator and wants to go back to see him again. Mad props to David for snapping some fabulous pictures to document the fun times had by all. I'm glad there was such a great one-last-hurrah for the guys and hope they are able to do it again sometime!

* No Jimmy is not my brother. No Jimmy is not David's brother. But we are family. And so he's Uncle Jimmy. And The Boy thinks the twins are his cousins. Thus a camping trip with his uncle and cousin. And yes he did say that was his cousin in all those pictures. He's a character like that. Never a dull moment around here, folks. Rarely a quiet one either!

In With Some New

The Boy sports his new, all ready for Kindergarten to start next Thursday, my favorite color is red backpack!

The Dog sports her new bright yellow oh man it's so fun to fetch where have you been all my life sweet nectar from heaven tennis ball

And David's trailer sports his new-to-him, achieved through some high-tech not understood by me at all barter involving a bow, ain't it a pretty green commercial grade mower (that he reminds me still needs some work but still it's commercial grade rock on)

I didn't score anything new today. There's always hope for tomorrow.

I ♥ Faces ~ I ♥ The Beach!

Another awesome week for entries over at IHeartFaces where this week we're all about The Beach! Have I ever mentioned just how much I love the beach? Because I do. That smell of the salt water. The sand. The ocean. Siiiiiggghhh. I could so leave right now and go for a week or two or ten.

We didn't make The Beach this summer but have plans to go for Thanksgiving this year - camping at the beach no less! I am entering in a photo from a few years back. This is one of my most favorite photos of The Boy on the Beach - he was still such a little guy but here looks like such a big boy. I'm partial as his mom loving that profile and belly all sticking out without a care in the world.

Make sure to head on over to I♥Faces to see all the other gawgus beach photos this week!

Walk. Run. Jump.

I looked back at my online journal just the other day and I found the entry on the day The Boy officially started walking. It read "(1) We started walking today! (2) We started running today!" It is quite true in that he seemingly walked and ran on the same day and has not stopped ever sense. And shortly thereafter The Boy learned to Jump. And jump and run and jump and run. That running and jumping seemed to be the theme of our weekend, along with a bit of splashing, too! We're thinking of taking our jumping to a Whole New Level if the rain holds out tomorrow and plan to bust out the Slip&Slide in the afternoon after work. That makes The Boy smile big just thinking about it!Hope a great weekend was had by all!
