Fun Times with Good Friends

Tonight we had the opportunity to hang out with good friends - and it was just what we needed! While the kids played and ran and tore all over creation? We adults laughed and ate good food and laughed some more. We're blessed to have good friends & really enjoyed our night tonight! It's late and I'm tired so I shall let the photos speak for themselves this one time - you'll forgive me, right? Essentially each one could have the caption Look At How Much Fun We Had!

Great time with good friends - hope to do it again real soon y'all ~ thanks for having us ~ we enjoyed it!

Slipping and Sliding

What do you do when all the neighbors are gone and it is 867 degrees outside with a heat index of Africa?

That's right. You bust out the slip-and-slide while donning your most awesome green goggles. And you show off your mad sliding skillz

Granted you can also show off your mad jumping skillz or your mad flopping skillz, as they make for great photo opportunities

You do these things in an effort to not melt away

Because it is June. And it is H O T. And really could you look any cuter while doing it?

You should follow all this slipping and sliding up with a truck washing with dad. It is, after all, Father's Day weekend!

And then you should wish him Lots Of Luck because tomorrow he heads to north GA for the state tournament. Rock On Dad - may you hit nothing but 12s and 14s for the day!

Catching up from Thursday

Millie looks how I felt when I got off work yesterday - and I was in bed by 7:30, asleep by 8 thanks to a killer headache so I didn't post last night. As such I didn't get to tell you all about the fun The Boy had at Playgroup.

This week? Another community outting - Monkey Joe's
I wish I could post a billion and one photos documenting the great fun, but The Boy was in heaven. Heaven! He's been looking forward to his for weeks. And he was G O N E the minute he got his bracelet. Running, jumping, playing for the few hours we were there
Much fun & a sweaty mess by the time all was said and done. The Boy didn't want to leave! But he had a blast spending the night with BigMama, Papa, Aunt Amber & Annie!

A Visit to Dr Oliver

We had an appointment with Dr Oliver this afternoon. True to form they called for Elly when it was time to check him in. New nurse but still no excuse since it's five years later and they are still botching up three little letters - Eli. ELI. Not Elly. Ahem. But I digress . . .

The Boy, at 5 years old, now weighs 51 pounds and is 46 inches tall! The internet tells me those percentiles are around 95% but we won't get specifics until our Well Child Visit August 28th - henceforth known as When We Have To Get Shots.

Today's visit was to discuss some issues regarding dairy. And right now we are guessing it is lactose intolerance, although Dr Oliver says this is something that usually shows up long before now. We're going to cut back the dairy and use lactaid with The Boy's cereal and such. Going to keep an eye on how things go between now and August and will reevaluate then. May explore allergy testing after that depending on how it rolls with the hope we can do RAST instead of skin prick. Possibly may go to see Dr. Ali for GI. All up in the air as we give it a few months. Eli simply saw the entire visit as a chance to play Leapster & write on the chalkboard!

Was good to see Dr Oliver again - especially for a good visit with no shots. And it was awesome that they updated our immunization record with the new expiration date so we can start Kindergarten this fall - so in essence The Boy's prayer about shots and Kindergarten? Sort of answered! :) For now? We watch out for the dairy and learn to like the lactaid. Any hints or stories of those that've been there/done that are welcomed & appreciated! We'll be giving the Lactaid a try in cereal tomorrow & will see how it goes . . .

IHeartFaces Sepia Toned!

Another great week at IHeartFaces! This week the theme is Sepia toned. This week we find The Boy sporting his favorite Green Goggles in the tub. Wait, you mean you don't wear your goggles for bathtime each night? They are necessities 'round here!

Sadly there is no adult entry as I clearly need to hang around adults more often (wink). But you can check out all the other fabulous entries over at IHeartFaces this week ~ there are some awesome faces over there!

Whoa What a Tuesday Evening

We rounded out the day with a jam-packed evening. Wasn't planned by any means. Started it with a little work on our letters, part of our summer occupational therapy with The Boy - which I incorporated in to his helping out with the Thank You notes! We shall ignore the improper hand grasp in favor of the deep concentration just this once (wink)
Shortly after? I had a hissy fit in the kitchen over MORE sugar ants (this time in the medicine cabinet of all places - apparently they had a cold of the pediatric variety and needed some Triaminic - hope they enjoyed it before their untimely death by Raid) and The Boy enjoyed Skittles as a reward for Hard Work on the letters U & C. David grilled up a super fantastic dinner of pork chops and we had a great supper before bath time. The Boy opted for bubbles tonight
And then we all got tattoos. No really - we all got one. Seriously. Mine is on my ankle!
And despite all this going on? We also spent every spare moment tearing the house apart looking for the Leapster. Every basket in The Boy's room. Every corner. Every pillowcase. No.Leapster.
At 9:45 p.m. a sobbing Boy came in our room. And David's eyes met mine in the mirror with S U C K E R written all over them. I freely admit that I did not put up much of a fight seeing as the old Leapster had a busted pencil and really how much fun can you have when half the games require the pencil to touch the screen?!? So we loaded up the truck, went to WalMart and now? Are the proud owners of a Leapster2 on sale at WallyWorld - and how about that it matches our tattoos!
Crazy busy evening and so no IHeartFaces entry tonight - will have to wait until Tuesday. Tomorrow on deck we have a doctor's appointment for The Boy. And then? Well then I'm hoping it is a Much Much Calmer, Quieter Tear-Free kinda evening. Surely yes since we now have a working Leapster, right?

A word from David!

I guess I should add a little something to this thing. After all, it is our new family blog.

For me Summer has kicked in full swing and if I blink, I know it will be over before too long. Last week was a blur of birthdays, VBS and sweating it out in the hot summer sun. This week will be a little easier for me. I don't have as much work lined up with the lawncare business. Hopefully, this will allow for some practice time before the big state championship shoot this coming weekend.

Then again, maybe some fishing is in order!!!

That Post In Which We Play Catch-up

We started off last week with a Big Day - The Boy's official birthday! He's now a Whole Hand! Monday was also the start of Columbus Kidz Week (our Vacation Bible School). I took the day off and we had an All About The Boy Day. After VBS, we had lunch, went to the library and came home to play with all the cool birthday presents from the party. We rounded out the night with McDonald's for dinner (The Boy's choice) and even had friends come to meet us there. Banner Birthday! Tuesday brought more VBS, some slip-and-sliding and falling asleep on the couch at a way earlier hour for The Boy. David and I broke out the Netflix again and find ourselves enjoying The Unit like you would not believe - we are so hooked. Netflix where have you been and why did it take us so long to find you?
Wednesday evening was family night at church and the Preschoolers sang! We also had the opportunity to go check out all the cool stuff they've been doing for the week.
Moving right along . . . Thursday The Boy went to BigMama & Papa's for a sleepover. David & I broke out yet another Netflix DVD of The Unit after dinner. A part of our dinner? A pepper from our garden! Look how out of control the growing is going! I'm still waiting on those 9 tomato plants to give me an edible tomato as there is nothing better in summertime than a tomato sandwich with a 'mater fresh from the gahhhhden.
Friday. Who was working for the weekend? Ah yes that would be ME. We invited the neighbors over, broke out the new slip-and-slide and tore up the grass a bit more! Saturday? David shot in an archery tournament (Go Dave!) and had an awesome day score-wise (Go Dave!). The Boy played with the neighbors and had a chance to play outside with a few birthday toys. I did laundry and played Farm Town on Facebook (addicted much? Ahem). I love lazy Saturdays! Which brings us (are you still with me? holy cow remind me not to get this far behind ever again!) to TODAY - Sunday. This morning the preschoolers sang again in both services. David went to another archery tournament a bit late and was able to see The Boy sing - and I was able to catch the first service before teaching during the second one. The Boy LOVED Columbus Kidz Week so much he asked if maybe could we have it again next week?

Quiet week anticipated - David is back to Turf Tamer business, The Boy is back to enjoying summer before school starts back, and I'm back to saving the world while working for the weekend (again). Off to figure out my IHeartFaces entry for tomorrow . . .

Hey Y'all! How's Your Mama an' Them?

So we've up and moved the blogs - Monkey Tales, Butterflies & Daisies, My Ramblings - and combined them all in to one. Nice of us, no? Now it's a one-stop click and you can find out all things for the family! Plus, you don't have to worry about David deleting things in the heat of the moment (ha). I'll be keeping The Monkey Tales & Butterflies & Daisies up - I cannot attest to David's blog as he's wiped it clean two or three different times now - but all new posts will be here at the "new house." You can rest assured sarcasm, wit and a heavenly host of photos will follow, as well as all the tales of The Boy & my weekly entries in IHeartFaces because we're nothing if not consistent!

You may be wondering about the blogspot name - SnoresWhenAsleep. We like to keep things lively around here and at one time or another that statement has covered every single living thing in our home. The guys weren't hip on the sappy blog links so I allowed something fun - and it's catchy, too, don't ya think?

For now I'm off to upload photos to make a real post - it's been nearly a week since I posted and I'm long overdue.

So kick back, bookmark, follow if you wish. And welcome to the new blog!
