Friday Trip to ATL

The Boy & I made a trip to Atlanta Friday for me to meet a friend - one of those that friends I love but had never met. The "strangers" or "creepers" or "imaginary friends" of the internet variety.
Karri & BW met us at Einstein's for a late lunch/early dinner - fabulous little place with cute decor. The Boy LOVED Ms Karri and acting "crazy" with her. He thinks both Ms Karri and Mr BW are pretty awesome because they brought him a a Cars surprise, too! All that awesomeness plus there were beads on the way to the restrooms and the fountain out front meaning Heaven in the mind of one 5 year old that kept saying he thought he might have to potty again. I loved the colors and decor, not to mention the food & the company myself!
The Boy, mind you, was also fascinated that At-lan-tuh had such "Big Old Tall Buildings!" and signs "saying no dogs peeing or ewwing on the ground!"And the fact that our car stayed in a parking garage - the "coolest place I've ever been in thirty years" according to The Boy (quite magical since he's only 5 years old, right?)

Shortly after entering our car and paying the OUTRAGEOUS parking fee, we entered in one of hte realms of hell from Dante's Inferno through downton Atlanta under construction. Insanity that leads on with the only option to enter I75N when you are working your hardest to go South. You contemplate flinging the GPS at the whistle blower telling you to move along but you refrain and eventually the robot in the map box gets you straight after turning eleventy trillion times and there you are! Back on I75S! Sitting Stilll! With 100s of other folks! Like you have all day long . . . And you count your blessings that just this once? Chatty McChatterson has closed his eyes and decided to take a little rest

A rest that lasts almost through the constructions - almost - but a welcomed quiet much the same. Because I cannot explain how difficult it is to manage your car going 55+ mph with construction on both sides, no shoulder, merging traffic, trying to follow directions and answering questions that are tough, y'all. Not silly questions by any means. This go round they were things like "Jesus is God's Son, right? And He loves us. And we should tell people all about him. So we talk about him at home and church but why don't we talk about it ALL the time everywhere?" And why yes he is right we SHOULD be talking about it everywhere.

Eventually I gave The Boy the power of the GPS and had him help us get back home. The biggest highlight? He would repeat back the directions for me - in the exact same tone the GPS unit used. Turn left on White-es-bil Road. Hilarious

Anyway. We had a blast meeting up with Karri and BW! Was great to finally hug her neck. The Boy says next time they should come play at our house - and I agree. Our door is open any time!

Vacation Recap

Last Wednesday afternoon, we took the loaded truck with the loaded camper and headed up north for a camping trip. The Boy and David? Beyond excited. Me? Fearing an Ant repeat from last year I was hesitant to click my heels in the air but did look forward to the days off from work. We high-tailed it up the road since we needed to beat the gate closing, which we managed to miss by four minutes but were still able to come inside thanks to an earlier phone call. Camp set up, quick visit with Granny & Papa Ronnie and after calling it a night? We woke up Thursday Ready For Vacation!

It was an awesome trip with only one afternoon of rain, NO ANTS!!! and lots of fun. The Boy had a blast hanging with Caden & Grayson. When asked his most favorite part of camping? Swimming in the lake. When you ask his parents? Night fishing.

So glad we had this little vacation before school starts back in a few weeks. The Boy hated to see it end even more than we did - many tears streaming down his face as we pulled away from the campsite. He requests next time we come? We stay for 30 days please.

Hope y'all enjoy the photos - just a little taste of the fun we had!

IHeartFaces ~ Feet!

Oh IHeartFaces you know how to throw a party! It's one of my most favorite themes EVER this week. The only other theme that would give me greater fits in choosing a photo would be if you had a category for Photos Taken From The Back and then I'd be hosed. But I digress . . .

It's a fabulous week over at IHeartFaces where they aren't showcasing Faces but are instead are showing off Feet! I opted to enter in sweet little sandy baby feet this week - hope you enjoy! Be sure to head over to IHeartFaces to check out all the other entries for the week! I'm off to finish the upteen billion loads of laundry from our camping trip. And to upload the camping photos. And mentally prepare for tomorrow's return to normal after four days off work . . .

IHeartFaces ~ We ♥ Sports in Action & Pets!

Another awesome week over at IHeartFaces this week, where we are exploring the wonderful world of action shots during this week's theme of Sports in Action! And it's also another week of Anything Goes with Pets, which is always a crowd pleaser for sure.

Now The Boy has yet to participate in any "organized" sport so-to-speak. The extent of our sports have been of the front and backyard variety. He's a medalist in jumping, both indoor and outdoor. He's a master of the bike-with-training-wheels. He soars to new speeds on the Razor. And he can kick a ball from our yard to Kolby's old yard. Recently the love of baseball came along and we've taken to hitting both off the tee and from a pitch. All geared up and ready to go, we were deeply saddened to find Little League Baseball is nothing but a bunch of punks, changing the rules with a new age cut-off making us ineligible to play this year by a mere 38 days.

But never fret! We have Sports In Action of the football variety. Donned for safety in our Cars helmet, wearing our blue cape so you know we're for the winning team and keeping with the camo so you never see us coming, we are stealth with our left-handed cannon
And not to miss out when Anything Goes? I give you a Pet for an afternoon - I'm fairly certain the love for this one wasn't even great enough he got a name after he jumped on The Boy one good time!
There are a ton of other wonderful entries over at IHeartFaces so be sure to check them all out!

Hey Y'all!

Long time no blog and the masses (all three of you) are getting antsy from the comments of um when are you going to update again and I thought one blog was going to make it easier to post I keep hearing when I see you.

I hear you. I am listening. I had good intentions last week. And this weekend. And Sunday night. B-b-b-but our family spare time? Has been spent together! Because Netflix is our friend!

David & I have been wrapped up in the lives of these guys

And I won't hesitate to tell you how partial I am to Cool Breeze there on the left (ahem). Awesome show - where have you been all our TV watching nights?! Except much like the fate of Hector, one of the main characters we have come to love as we've watched these episodes, CBS has KILLED THE SHOW. This has led us to say things like Poor Hector and CBS You Suck. And now we are looking for yet another show to feed our Netflix addiction as we near the last of the current Unit episodes. Suggestions welcome. Although maybe you don't want to suggest as it just keeps me from blogging. Ahem.

Even The Boy has found a Netflix love

Bolt has earned a spot right up there with Cars as one of the Greatest Movies Ever Made in his mind. We've watched it upteen million times and The Boy deemed it okay to just keep Bolt Forever. Thankfully BigMama & Papa scored The Boy his own personal copy and Netflix will have their copy returned sometime in the next day or so depending on the speed of the post office, thus not having to wait forever.

We don't spend every waking moment watching television. We did build this super awesome spy tent on The Boy's bottom bunk Saturday

And then he thought it such a fabulous place to hang that he fell asleep there Saturday night and spent the night in his "tent"

And speaking of tents and such we are gearing up for a Camping Trip this week! Everyone is getting very excited for our vacation - I'm just hoping the heat isn't too unbearable, the rain stays far away, and the ants - oh those pesky stinkin ants - stay far, far away from us this year - wish us luck ~ and I'll be sure to take tons of photos & give you a full recap after. Now if we can just fast-forward through the rest of this work-week so we can actually get to our vacation . . .

Again many apologies to our few "fans" - only one more Unit DVD to go so we should be around more often now! That is, until we find another show to catch up on . . .

Happy Monday!

When Good Sheriffs Go Bad.

Good Sheriff located above (why yes he did wear those shoes with those shorts today thanks)? Was later wanted for the intake of a bag of sour gummy worms. Allowed intake = 3 gummy worms. His intake? Many more. He confessed to the crime and the punishment that followed included a loss of movie privileges for the evening and No More Gummy Worms for the foreseeable future.

Said Sheriff also received a refresher on Children Obey Your Parents. Apology followed and the convicted later fell asleep at 7 p.m. It is unknown if the convicted will have gastrointestinal consequences resulting from his ridiculous sour gummy intake but parents are hopeful it won't be a horrible night even though that lesson might last much longer than the lost privileges.

A Whole Buncha Damage

Awwww. Isn't she just so precious? Dear sweet Mildred Louise. Except for that part where while we were gone to celebrate the 4th? She went Houdini on her kennel that for 2.5 years now has been perfectly acceptable - pulled the door IN - and, well, went crazy. This was only a glimpse. I shall spare you the hall and the living room. Separation anxiety? Getting us back for partying it up while leaving her at home? Can't blame the fireworks, as no one in the cul de sac was in town this 4th of July. Way too reminiscent of the days of Bailey shredding the 12-packs of toilet paper (raise our hand if you can recall those days) Whatever the rhyme or reason, I'm hoping Millie got it all out of her system and doesn't give a repeat any time in the near future. As The Boy put it she did a whole buncha damage and I would rather not go through that again anytime soon!

4th of July Fun

Ahhhh the 4th of July - celebrating freedom at home as a family and then having the wonderful opportunity to continue the celebration with others with swimming, good food and fireworks! After sleeping in a bit (okay let's be honest here, I slept in and my guys watched Bolt for the upteenth million time!), David & The Boy got the camper out and I set to doing things like laundry, dishes, making tea and lemonade & the like (we're gearing up for the upcoming camping trip but that's a whole 'nother story) before finishing my book. But there was one constant question: is it time to go swim at Mr Bill's house yet?
When 3 p.m. came along, we loaded up the truck and headed to Mr Bill's house to celebrate. The Boy was T H R I L L E D that he was going to get to swim, and swim he did - for nearly 3.5 hours (although there was that brief break where we ate some fantastic food)! After dinner and one last swim? Fireworks in the street!
A fabulous time this 4th of July!
