When Good Sheriffs Go Bad.

Good Sheriff located above (why yes he did wear those shoes with those shorts today thanks)? Was later wanted for the intake of a bag of sour gummy worms. Allowed intake = 3 gummy worms. His intake? Many more. He confessed to the crime and the punishment that followed included a loss of movie privileges for the evening and No More Gummy Worms for the foreseeable future.

Said Sheriff also received a refresher on Children Obey Your Parents. Apology followed and the convicted later fell asleep at 7 p.m. It is unknown if the convicted will have gastrointestinal consequences resulting from his ridiculous sour gummy intake but parents are hopeful it won't be a horrible night even though that lesson might last much longer than the lost privileges.

A Whole Buncha Damage

Awwww. Isn't she just so precious? Dear sweet Mildred Louise. Except for that part where while we were gone to celebrate the 4th? She went Houdini on her kennel that for 2.5 years now has been perfectly acceptable - pulled the door IN - and, well, went crazy. This was only a glimpse. I shall spare you the hall and the living room. Separation anxiety? Getting us back for partying it up while leaving her at home? Can't blame the fireworks, as no one in the cul de sac was in town this 4th of July. Way too reminiscent of the days of Bailey shredding the 12-packs of toilet paper (raise our hand if you can recall those days) Whatever the rhyme or reason, I'm hoping Millie got it all out of her system and doesn't give a repeat any time in the near future. As The Boy put it she did a whole buncha damage and I would rather not go through that again anytime soon!

4th of July Fun

Ahhhh the 4th of July - celebrating freedom at home as a family and then having the wonderful opportunity to continue the celebration with others with swimming, good food and fireworks! After sleeping in a bit (okay let's be honest here, I slept in and my guys watched Bolt for the upteenth million time!), David & The Boy got the camper out and I set to doing things like laundry, dishes, making tea and lemonade & the like (we're gearing up for the upcoming camping trip but that's a whole 'nother story) before finishing my book. But there was one constant question: is it time to go swim at Mr Bill's house yet?
When 3 p.m. came along, we loaded up the truck and headed to Mr Bill's house to celebrate. The Boy was T H R I L L E D that he was going to get to swim, and swim he did - for nearly 3.5 hours (although there was that brief break where we ate some fantastic food)! After dinner and one last swim? Fireworks in the street!
A fabulous time this 4th of July!

Swimming Fun!

We are feeding a neighbor's dog for a few days and in return get to swim in their pool for the weekend - The Boy believes this is by far the Best Weekend Ever! This afternoon we went swimming for a few hours and had a blast

So You Had A Bad Hair Cut.

So The Boy was in dire need of a haircut. He looked incredibly shaggy and I could stand it no longer. Since every third haircut at our usual spot ends up being horrible we decided to give a new place a try.

Now before I go any further, please note The Boy has had his fair share of horrible haircuts. Raise your hand if you remember the time the haircut ended up looking like the character from Dumb&Dumber, probably the most notable of the Bad Haircuts

But honestly in all our Bad Hair experience this just took it to a whole new level. Now I completely understand that cutting The Boy's hair is a total pain. I get that - which is why I Pay you to do it so I don't have to do it Myself. I let them know about his tendency to, how shall I put it, loosely follow directions - as in "look down" will get a brief look down but probably not the full minute and a half you are accustomed to thanks. I mean HELLO this is the child that takes twenty minutes to put on a pair of underwear for crying out loud.

I digress. I will say that when The Haircut was finished there was hair everywhere and I simply couldn't tell Just How Horrible It Was - that is I could not tell how horrible it was until after shower and Boy Howdy. I thought briefly it was Just Me. Perhaps I'm being over critical. I had High Hair Standards or something. Then David came in and said Oh No Somebody Needs To Fix This. And then BigMama agreed. And people at church say the same things. And FABULOUS he has a jacked-up haircut. See?

There were Full Intentions to take The Boy back and have them fix at least one portion but they were closed the morning David had off to take him. BigMama rocks for at least straightening the right side. I plan to let it grow a little more and then I'll rack my brain to think of just where on earth to take him this next time. Hopefully it will end happily ever after this next go-round because The Boy's already asking if maybe we should just cut all of it off like his Daddy's - just not ready for a shaved head yet! Hey, at least it wasn't his Back-to-School Ready-for-Kindergarten Haircut, right?

IHeartFaces ~ Just For Fun

IHeartFaces has a Just For Fun category this week where we can enter a photo Just For Fun. And Just For Fun my five regular readers will pretend they didn't see this photo just the other day, mkay? Just for fun. So I give you The Boy on the slip&slide Saturday. A particularly good slide with a particularly good splash - he was quite pleased with himself as you can tell!

There are lots of other photos posted Just For Fun over at IHeartFaces - be sure to check them out!

IHeartFaces ~ Weddings!

Another awesome week at IHeartFaces this week where it is All About Weddings! In honor of this week's theme, and since I don't have any current wedding pictures and so wanted to participate, we rented a tux, I donned my dress and we renewed our vows this past weekend. I was the wedding photographer before and after - except for photos including myself - and managed to snap this frame-worthy shot of the husband - He Makes That Tux Look So GoodJust kidding. Because it was WAY too hot to renew any vows and bwahahaha like my dress fits. But I did snap the above photo a few years ago when David was a groomsman in his cousin's wedding. Nothing like a man in a tux.

Be sure to head over to IHeartFaces where you can see brides and grooms and all kinds of wedding goodness this week!

So Much For Staying on Top of Posting.

Full intentions of posting more last week. Except for that part where Monday night around 2:30 a.m. the boy woke up. And remained like this: until about 5:30 a.m. Okay not exactly like that but he certainly wasn't sleeping. Please note I did not break out the camera in the wee hours of the morning, although David wouldn't put it past me. No, I'm more of the irritable type when awakened too early and as such found myself asking such things as WHY are you STILL awake son?!? when he popped in the bedroom for the upteenth million time. Around the 5:30 a.m. mark when I found myself seriously flagging? I informed him that he needed to go to sleep immediately as it would be morning soon & was told yeah I looked out my window and saw that the sun was about to come up so I guess I better close my eyes. Wonderful.

I asked when I woke The Boy up not three hours later just why he stayed up for, oh, half the night. His response? Because when I close my eyes I can't see. Never a dull a moment.
So I spent the next few days working my tail off at work and trying to catch up on sleep at home.
Fast forward a bit to Thursday and playgroup - Music Day! - where David was Most Awesome and helped us out. The Boy was psyched not only to attned but to also have his daddy there. Rock On.
And since we are just flying through the last week I shall just fly right on through to yesterday! David was My Hero when he let me have the morning off Saturday. He & The Boy went to "The Jungle" (Uchee Creek) to shoot the bow and I enjoyed the quiet of the house, catching up on laundry and dishes and the like. Later in the afternoon? We broke out the slip&slide with the neighbors - Much Fun was had by all!
Other highlights from yesterday include my perfecting the Fried Green Tomatoes recipe, catching up on more episodes of The Unit thanks to Netflix and finally getting a good night's sleep. Here's to hoping we can keep the good sleep trend up for several days to come! For now I'm off to watch Hancock with David. I love lazy, quiet Sunday afternoons!

I Heart Faces: Boys Rule!

Another awesome week at IHeartFaces and being the mom of The Boy I'm so loving this week's theme: Let's Hear It For The Boys! No girls are allowed, which is fine and dandy in this house, since girls are something we are surely lacking (present company excluded!).

Kids entry? The Boy having a blast on the slip-and-slide while wearing his beloved green goggles. He caught a bit of air, missing the raft, but shortly after this was snapped had an awesome splash!

And David said in honor of Father's Day this was the best entry in the adult category ~ this photo hangs in our living room and is one of my most favorite

Lots of wonderful entries over at IHeartFaces so be sure to check them all out!

Honoring the Father

It's Father's Day - a day all about D-A-D. Around here that means time for archery and taking afternoon naps. Time for the wife to ruin dinner but she does redeem herself slightly with that cake she baked yesterday sans icing. Roadtrips singing at the top of our lungs about the Light of the light of the light of the world. Of a card and a Cootie bug left lovingly in the gun/bow/fishing room.

You were father and mother at a time when I could be neither. For a father that was so unsure of himself just days before, you entered fatherhood and took to it like you had done it all your life. And through all the ups and downs we've done pretty good, haven't we? I like to think so. And look at all the love we have to show for it - a heart full of someday memories of a monkey boy that loves to chatter and give you One More Kiss and One More Hug to stall before going to bed. Who wants to Play The Game with his daddy because that is what y'all are great at doing - playing together. Okay so he is a bit of a picky eater that has just not found your love of red meat yet but Waffle House - y'all are So There.

Thank you for being my other half. My patience when I find none. Laughter when the going is rough. Sanity when mine has been lost. Reasoning when I need a slap in the back of the head. I can't believe how much you rule, David.
And The Boy says: What is Father's day again? Oh yeah. Happy Father's day daddy! Can we play our game when you are finished? I love you. We love you ~ Happy Father's day!

(and The Boy!)

Fun Times with Good Friends

Tonight we had the opportunity to hang out with good friends - and it was just what we needed! While the kids played and ran and tore all over creation? We adults laughed and ate good food and laughed some more. We're blessed to have good friends & really enjoyed our night tonight! It's late and I'm tired so I shall let the photos speak for themselves this one time - you'll forgive me, right? Essentially each one could have the caption Look At How Much Fun We Had!

Great time with good friends - hope to do it again real soon y'all ~ thanks for having us ~ we enjoyed it!

Slipping and Sliding

What do you do when all the neighbors are gone and it is 867 degrees outside with a heat index of Africa?

That's right. You bust out the slip-and-slide while donning your most awesome green goggles. And you show off your mad sliding skillz

Granted you can also show off your mad jumping skillz or your mad flopping skillz, as they make for great photo opportunities

You do these things in an effort to not melt away

Because it is June. And it is H O T. And really could you look any cuter while doing it?

You should follow all this slipping and sliding up with a truck washing with dad. It is, after all, Father's Day weekend!

And then you should wish him Lots Of Luck because tomorrow he heads to north GA for the state tournament. Rock On Dad - may you hit nothing but 12s and 14s for the day!
